5-mile route with mines specialist Neil Dyson

Probably the best lead mining walk in the area, with plenty of old ruins and excellent views. Led by mines specialist Neil Dyson, the 5-mile route involves some steep terrain. Dogs on leads are welcome. Please note that parking in Gunnerside is limited.

Places are limited so please book in advance. If a walk is sold out, you can call our office to add your name to the waiting list. Please let us know as early as possible if you are not going to use your walk ticket; we can’t offer refunds but someone else may be able to take your place. You’ll need sturdy boots, waterproofs and a hat. For the longer walks bring lunch and water. Coins for ticket machines may be needed. Published durations are approximate.
