Guided Walk: The Arkle Beck and Fremington Edge

Wednesday 07 June 2023 10:00 - 15:00

Event No: 41

7-mile walk led by the Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust

Venue: Langthwaite Car Park

A 7-mile moderate walk with some steep climbs, stiles and stepping-stones. Led by the Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust, the walk leaves Langthwaite along the Arkle Beck where the Trust is involved in a project to implement natural flood management, and we will learn how this will assist in an area of the Dales that was badly affected by the floods of 2019. There’ll be a steep climb up and along Fremington Edge, and a descent through historic lead mining remains. No dogs please.

Adult £10, Under 25 £3

Places are limited so please book in advance. If a walk is sold out, you can call our office to add your name to the waiting list. Please let us know as early as possible if you are not going to use your walk ticket; we can’t offer refunds but someone else may be able to take your place. You’ll need sturdy boots, waterproofs and a hat. For the longer walks bring lunch and water. Coins for ticket machines may be needed. Published durations are approximate.

Thanks to the Yorkshire Dales Rivers Trust, Yoredale Natural History Society, Swaledale and Arkengarthdale Archaeology Group, Keld Resource Centre, the Woodland Trust, our walks coordinator Charles Collinson, all our walk leaders, and to Gavin and Kay Young who have generously supported the walks programme this year.
