Sarod Grandmaster Amjad Ali Khan to Perform at Swaledale Festival

We are thrilled to welcome the legendary Indian classical musician and sarod grandmaster Amjad Ali Khan for a special concert with his two sons Ayaan Ali Bangash and Amaan Ali Bangash, on Friday 6 June at St Andrew’s Church in Grinton.

Amjad Ali Khan is one of India’s most revered classical musicians and a globally celebrated virtuoso of the sarod - a plucked stringed instrument known for its deep, shimmering tone. Descended from six generations of players, he has elevated the sarod to international prominence with his soulful performances, musical insight and dedication to the art of Hindustani classical music. A recipient of India’s second-highest civilian honour, the Padma Vibhushan, he has performed at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall, the Royal Albert Hall and Wigmore Hall.

His sons and disciples Ayaan Ali Bangash and Amaan Ali Bangash are renowned sarod players in their own right - celebrated for their technical brilliance.

The trio’s extraordinary synergy creates a mesmerising audience experience, bringing the rich traditions of Indian classical music to Swaledale. Don’t miss it!
