Clare Salaman

Clare Salaman

It is with deep sadness that we have to report the death of multi-instrumentalist and Festival favourite Clare Salaman after a long illness. Clare was a frequent performer at Swaledale Festival - with the poet Ian McMillan, with her trio SYM, and on a number of occasions with her innovative group The Society of Strange and Ancient Instruments. She was a hugely talented player of the violin, nyckelharpa, hurdy-gurdy and many other instruments, as well as being a researcher, producer and director of numerous ground-breaking and highly entertaining music projects.

Clare was an extraordinary and lovely person, and we will miss her enormously. Our thoughts are with her husband and family.
