György Ligeti’s compositional output encompasses a huge range of styles, from folk-inspired melodies reminiscent of Bartók and Kodály, to neo-romantic, polymodal, electronic and postmodernist forms. Far from scary however, his works can be exciting, humourous and even touching. In this concert, the fine young quartet that bears his name celebrates the great composer’s centenary with performances of his first two Quartets and a selection of Duos. Adult £15, Under 25 £3 Generously supported by Geoffrey Hope on behalf of The Goodricke Appeal Fund for Deaf Children in North Yorkshire.
